Tree Agate, proper name Dendritic Agate, is named after Dendrite – the old Greek name for a tree and is associated with the Ancient Greek dryads, woodland and tree spirits. Dendritic or Tree Agate was buried in the fields by the Ancient Greeks at the time of sowing to insure a good harvest.
