Turritella Agate is a brown, translucent to semi-transparent fossiliferous agate found in Wyoming’s Green River Formation. It contains large fossil snails contrasting the brownish agate in a white to tan color. The stone was actually incorrectly named, as the snail fossils were thought to be of the marine Turritella genus, when they were actually of the freshwater snail, Elimia tenera. Before the correct name was realized, the name “Territella” was already widely recognized.
